Best Friends, Welcome to the New Site
SoundBitesEvents.com has been a loooong time in the making. A lot of you have been here for part—if not most—of this journey, but for those of you that are new... my name is Franco! I grew up right here in North Central Massachusetts, and music has always been a focus in my life. My journey with it has been nothing short of incredible.
It all begins waaaay back in the 1900s, around the turn of the century. By coincidence, luck, or what I now realize had to be fate, I stumbled into a bar that just so happened to be holding an open mic. I didn’t even know open mics were a thing! But IMMEDIATELY, I was hooked—not as a performer, but as a fan, soaking in the raw energy and creativity. I couldn’t stay away. I had to come back the next week, and the next.
It wasn’t long before I felt the pull to create something of my own. I bought myself a Fender acoustic guitar—the one with the gig bag and everything you need to make you think you have everything you need. Spoiler: You don't. In this story, it took me close to seven years—yes, and 2 of them were leap years—to produce something that somewhat almost slightly resembled the sound of a guitar... that was broken... and it was causing the person playing it unimaginable pain.
But when it finally clicked? That was it for me. I played my first open mic—a story for another time, but let’s just say it was rough. Despite that, I knew I’d found my place. Soon, I teamed up with a friend, and we became an honest-to-goodness duo (miss you Sam). One gig led to another, and before I knew it, I wasn’t just performing—I was hosting open mics of my own.
That was almost 17 years ago.Since then, my journey has evolved. These days, I’ve transitioned away from gigging solo and found a true passion—and purpose—in hosting multi-artist events, open mics, and songwriting contests and always searching for new, innovative ways to bring people together through music.
I’m so excited to share this journey with you and see what’s next in your journey and growing Sound Bites Events & Open Mics.
Cheers,
Franco!
